Coventry Wheelie Bin Death: Police Suspect Victim Was Run Over and Moved
Coventry Wheelie Bin Death: Victim May Have Been Run Over

West Midlands Police have launched an urgent investigation after the body of a man was discovered inside a wheelie bin in Coventry, with officers suspecting he may have been struck by a vehicle and subsequently moved to the location.

Discovery in Cash's Park

The grim discovery was made by a member of the public at approximately 5pm on Thursday, March 13, 2026, in Cash's Park off Daimler Road in Coventry. The victim, who has not yet been formally identified, is believed to be aged between 40 and 50 years old.

He was found inside a Coventry City Council wheelie bin with a distinctive green lid. Police are currently working closely with the local authority to trace the origins of the bin and determine where it might have been relocated from prior to the discovery.

Police Theory and Appeal

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Poole, from the Major Crime Unit, stated that while investigators are keeping an open mind, the primary line of enquiry suggests the man was hit by a vehicle before being moved to the park.

"We believe that this man has been hit by a vehicle, and then has been moved to the park," DCI Poole said. "I urgently want to hear from anyone who believes they may have hit someone in their car yesterday, or who has noticed a change in behaviour from someone they know who drives, or who has noticed damage to a vehicle."

He emphasised the critical importance of tracing the driver involved to obtain their account of the events. Additionally, police are appealing to residents in the area who may have had a green-lidded wheelie bin stolen to come forward.

Ongoing Investigation

Officers remain at the scene today conducting thorough enquiries to establish the man's identity, as well as the precise circumstances, location, and cause of his death. The investigation is being treated with the utmost urgency.

Police are also urging anyone with information, dashcam footage, or CCTV recordings from the vicinity of Cash's Park or surrounding areas to contact them immediately. They can get in touch by calling 101 and quoting log number 4148 dated March 13.

This remains a developing story as authorities work to piece together the tragic sequence of events that led to the man's death being discovered in such unusual and distressing circumstances.
