A woman from Ohio has reported a frightening incident where she believes her car was deliberately shot at while she was driving home, an act she attributes to her politically-charged personalised licence plate.
The Alleged Highway Attack
The woman, identified by local news as Jody, stated the event occurred on Monday evening while she was driving on a highway in the Cincinnati area. She told local Fox affiliate WXIX that she first became aware of a black car with tinted windows closely following her vehicle.
"I looked over, it was a black car, looked like it had tinted windows, but I was like 'I'm going to gun it a little bit'," Jody recounted. "So I shot up and as soon as I pressed the gas to go faster I heard a 'pop pop' and I knew something had hit my car." She initially did not know what had caused the impact.
Jody said the mysterious vehicle then overtook her and sped away. It was only after she arrived safely at her home that she discovered the damage: dents in her car's bumper which she believes were caused by a small-calibre weapon.
Political Motive Suspected
Jody is convinced she was targeted because of her licence plate, which prominently reads 'MAGAGRL' – a clear reference to the 'Make America Great Again' slogan associated with former US President Donald Trump.
She admitted to WXIX that she has faced taunts and negative reactions from other drivers in the past due to the plate, but never before has it escalated to what she believes was a violent attack. "I didn't understand why someone would shoot my vehicle because I support President Donald Trump," she said.
Aftermath and Police Investigation
Reflecting on the potential danger, Jody expressed her shock. "Anything could have happened last night," she stated. "That's what kind of hits me the most is that, I could have crashed, I could have been hit if they hit my window." She described feeling a mix of anger and a desire to simply repair the damage.
Jody confirmed she has reported the entire incident to the Springfield Township Police Department. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the alleged shooting, and Jody said she has no idea who was driving the black car.
The Springfield Township Police have been contacted for an official comment and further details regarding their investigation.
