Police uncovered cocaine valued at £25,000 when they executed a search warrant at a house in Holytown. Jonathan Ryan, 37, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday and was cautioned that a prison sentence was a possibility after he admitted to being involved in the supply of the Class A drug.
Details of the Search
The incident occurred on March 27 last year at Ryan's home on Dornoch Road. Prosecutor Connor McIntyre told the court that police arrived with a search warrant at 5:45pm and found Ryan alone inside. During the search, officers recovered 917 grams of cocaine, estimated to be worth £25,000. Additionally, £535 in cash and a mobile phone were seized. According to McIntyre, Ryan made no reply when charged.
Defense and Sentencing
Defense lawyer Scott Jones informed the court that Ryan is employed full-time and has a family. He requested background reports to help the court understand the circumstances behind the offense. Sheriff Colin Dunipace deferred sentencing until next month, stating, "Be under no illusion - this is a significant amount of a Class A drug. I require reports prior to making a decision on the sentence."
