An Albanian national who entered the UK illegally has been jailed after admitting to selling drugs to financially support his disabled father back home.
The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested following an investigation into drug trafficking in the local area. Authorities discovered that he had been involved in the sale of illegal substances, using the profits to send money to his family in Albania.
Desperate Measures for Family Support
During the court hearing, it was revealed that the defendant had resorted to drug dealing as a means to provide for his father, who suffers from a severe disability. The judge acknowledged the difficult circumstances but emphasised that breaking the law was not justified.
"While the court recognises the defendant's personal struggles, engaging in criminal activity cannot be excused," the judge stated during sentencing.
Legal Consequences
The man was sentenced to several years in prison, with the judge warning others against similar actions. The case highlights the broader issues of illegal immigration and the lengths some individuals go to support their families.
Law enforcement officials have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug-related crimes, regardless of the perpetrators' backgrounds or motivations.
