TV Anchor Arrested After Mother's Bloody Stabbing Death
TV presenter arrested after mother's stabbing death

A former American television news anchor has been charged with first-degree murder following the violent stabbing death of her elderly mother, in a case that has sent shockwaves through the community.

Blood-Soaked Scene at Family Home

On the morning of Friday, October 31, just before 8 am, officers from the Wichita Police Department were called to a distressing scene. They discovered Angelynn 'Angie' Mock, 47, waiting outside the home she shared with her mother, reportedly covered in blood.

Inside the property, first responders found Mock's mother, Anita Avers, 80, unresponsive in a bed. The elderly woman, who had worked as a marriage and family therapist, had suffered multiple stab wounds. She was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead at 8:26 am.

A Career in Media Ends in Tragedy

Mock, who apparently had cuts on her hands when authorities arrived, was also treated for unspecified injuries at the hospital before her arrest. The formerly successful journalist was then booked into Sedgwick County Jail.

According to public records from Sedgewick County, Mock is currently being held on a $1 million bond. At the time of writing, it remains unclear whether she has entered a plea or secured legal representation. Her charge is listed as "active."

Mock had a established media career, most notably working as a morning news anchor for Fox 2 News in St. Louis, Missouri from March 2011 to February 2015. She had since pursued a career change and was working in sales at a data management software firm at the time of her arrest.

Neighbour Recalls Chilling Encounter

A neighbour, Alyssa Castro, provided a chilling account to KAKE News, an ABC affiliate. "There was a woman who came and approached our vehicle with blood, like her hands were filled, her body was filled with blood, asking to call 911," Castro recounted.

"I asked her if she was okay, and she was pretty shooken up and she seemed scared, and she just ran off... I'm just glad that we were able to help."

The same publication reported that 911 dispatchers informed emergency responders that the "calling party stabbed the mother to save herself." However, authorities have not released any additional details about what has been described as a domestic dispute, and the investigation is ongoing as police work to unravel the full sequence of events.
