Woman Dragged to Floor in Tube Rape Attempt, Police Appeal

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after a woman was allegedly dragged to the floor and attacked on the London Underground. The incident occurred on a Bakerloo Line service between Waterloo and Lambeth North at approximately 11:40 pm on Saturday, July 11.

Attack Details

According to British Transport Police, the woman was travelling alone when a man approached her, exposed himself, then pulled her to the floor and attempted to rape her. The woman fought back and managed to escape the train at Lambeth North station, where she immediately alerted station staff.

Police stated that the alleged attacker remained on the tube and later got off at Elephant and Castle Underground station. Detectives have released CCTV images of a man they believe may have information that could assist their investigation. The man pictured has not been accused of any offence.

Investigation and Appeal

An investigation is ongoing to track the man's movements. Police believe he was at Oxford Circus Underground station before the incident and at Piccadilly Circus Underground station afterwards. BTP Detective Sergeant Krishan Appannah said: “Our officers are supporting the victim following this horrific incident. We understand incidents of this nature are deeply concerning for the public and we’re appealing to them directly to help us identify the man in the CCTV footage. One line of enquiry is that he may be homeless.”
