Ryanair to Close Check-in Desks 60 Minutes Before Flights from November 10
Ryanair Check-in Change: Desks Close 60 Minutes Before Flights

Ryanair is changing its check-in rules for all passengers from November 10, 2026. The airline will close its check-in desks 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time, instead of the current 40 minutes. Passengers who fail to check in by then may be denied boarding without a refund.

New Check-in Deadline Announced

Ryanair confirmed the change in a statement: "For all passengers flying from 10 November 2026 onwards, the check-in desks close strictly 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time unless you are notified otherwise before flight departure. If you do not complete check-in by then you may be denied boarding without refund."

This gives holidaymakers 20 minutes less time to check in at the airport compared to the current rule, unless they have already checked in online. Those who do not check in online more than 2 hours before departure will be charged the airport check-in fee, as outlined in the airline's table of fees. Passengers who booked a Plus or Flexi Plus ticket before August 14, 2025, can check in at the airport free of charge.

Online Check-in Options

Ryanair still allows online check-in, which opens 60 days before the scheduled departure time for passengers who have purchased an allocated seat. Customers can be allocated a seat free of charge if they check in online between 24 and 2 hours before each booked flight. Online check-in is not available during the 2 hours before the flight's scheduled departure time.

Airport Security Changes

In addition to Ryanair's update, some UK airports have upgraded their security scanning equipment, allowing passengers to carry up to 2 litres of liquids through security without removing them from hand luggage. Liverpool John Lennon Airport, however, still requires liquids to be 100ml or less in hand luggage, though they no longer need to be in a clear plastic bag and can be kept in hand luggage when going through security.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport recommends passengers arrive a minimum of two hours before departure to allow sufficient time to check in, pass through security, and use the departure lounge facilities. The airport reminded passengers that it is their responsibility to arrive at the departure gate at the published boarding time as stipulated by their airline.
