Newlyweds Separated After Fatal Crash Kills Four

A newlywed couple have been left with devastating, life-altering injuries and face being forced to live apart after surviving a horrific crash in Greater Manchester that claimed four lives.

A Fateful Night Out Ends in Tragedy

Georgina Daniels, 28, and her husband Tom, 29, were riding home in a taxi with two friends in the early hours of January 11, 2026. Their Citroen C4 Picasso taxi was involved in a catastrophic head-on collision with another car on a road in Bolton.

The driver of the cab, 54-year-old Masrob Ali, was pronounced dead at the scene. Tragically, three teenagers travelling in the other vehicle, a red Seat Leon, also lost their lives. They were named by Greater Manchester Police as Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar and Farhan Patel, both 18, and Mohammed Danyaal, 19. An 18-year-old male from the same car was hospitalised with what were described as minor injuries.

Survival Brings Unimaginable Challenges

While Georgina and Tom survived the impact, their lives have been irrevocably changed. The couple, who had been together for over a decade and married for just seven months, now require round-the-clock care.

Georgina, an NHS manager, expressed her shock at surviving, stating from her hospital bed: "I can't fathom how we're all still alive – it should have taken our lives." She added that processing the mental trauma has been harder than dealing with the physical injuries.

Tom, a sales manager, has been left with major mobility issues and struggles with stairs. The severity of their respective injuries means that, for the foreseeable future, they cannot live together as both need dedicated, full-time assistance.

The couple have undergone four surgeries between them so far, but face a long and painful recovery. They had been out that evening saying goodbye to two friends who were about to emigrate to Australia.

Community Support and Ongoing Investigation

In response to the tragedy, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched to support Georgina, Tom, and their two unnamed friends who were also in the taxi. The appeal, which has raised over £40,000, aims to cover expenses while the victims are unable to work and relieve pressure on their families.

The local community also came together to mourn taxi driver Masrob Ali. An estimated 600 mourners travelled from across the UK to attend his funeral prayers in Bolton, with the service moved to a larger mosque to accommodate the crowd.

Detective Inspector Andrew Page of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit confirmed that work to establish the full circumstances of the fatal road accident is ongoing. He urged the public not to share footage of the incident on social media, warning it could cause further distress to the families and may constitute a criminal offence.

The scene of the collision was closed on the Sunday evening after the crash, but police continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
