A colossal pileup involving more than 100 vehicles brought a key Michigan motorway to a standstill on Monday, 19 January 2026, as a major winter storm swept across the United States.
Chaos on Interstate 196
The incident, described by authorities as a massive chain-reaction crash, occurred on Interstate 196 just southwest of Grand Rapids near Hudsonville. Forecasters continued to warn of dangerous conditions, noting that freezing temperatures were possible overnight into Tuesday across much of north-central Florida and southeast Georgia.
