National Highways has confirmed a series of overnight closures on motorways around Greater Manchester between Tuesday, 20 October, and Thursday, 22 October, affecting sections of the M60, M6 and M62, as well as the M56, A34 and M61.
The closures include full carriageway closures, slip road closures and link road closures, with most taking place overnight between 20:00 and 06:00.
Longer-term closures
Some roadworks are scheduled to last for several weeks or months. The A62 southbound and northbound at Gildersome through Northern roundabout will have a 24/7 carriageway closure from 20:00 on August 3, 2026 to 06:00 on November 14, 2026. The M62 eastbound Jct 34 entry slip road will be closed 24/7 from 06:00 on September 25, 2026 to 06:00 on April 25, 2027.
Tuesday, October 20 closures
On Tuesday, the M6 northbound will be closed between Jct 20 and Jct 21 from 21:00 to 06:00, with the Jct 20 entry slip and Jct 21 exit slip also closed during the same period. The M6 southbound Jct 18 exit and entry slip roads will close from 21:00 to 05:00.
The M62 eastbound will be closed between Jct 22 and Jct 24 from 20:00 to 06:00, with the Jct 22 entry slip and Jct 23 and Jct 24 exit slips also closed. The M62 westbound will be closed between Jct 24 and Jct 22 during the same hours.
The M60 clockwise will be closed between Jct 26 and Jct 1 from 23:45 to 06:00, with the Jct 26 entry slip, Jct 1 exit slip and Jct 27 entry slip also closed. The M60 anticlockwise Jct 3 exit slip will close from 21:00 to 06:00, as will the clockwise Jct 3 exit slip.
Wednesday, October 21 closures
On Wednesday, the M60 clockwise will be closed between Jct 26 and Jct 1 from 21:30 to 06:00, with the Jct 26 entry slip, Jct 1 exit slip and Jct 27 entry slip closed during the same period. The M60 clockwise Jct 22 entry slip will close from 21:00 to 06:00.
The M62 eastbound will again be closed between Jct 22 and Jct 24 from 20:00 to 06:00, with the M62 westbound between Jct 24 and Jct 22 also closed. The M67 eastbound between Jct 3 and Jct 4 will close from 20:00 to 06:00, with the westbound between Jct 4 and Jct 3 also closed.
Thursday, October 22 closures
On Thursday, the M6 northbound will be closed between Jct 32 and Jct 33 from 22:00 to 06:00, with the Jct 32 entry slip also closed. The M6 southbound Jct 36 will have a carriageway closure from 20:00 to 06:00, with traffic diverted up and over.
The M62 eastbound between Jct 22 and Jct 24 will close from 20:00 to 06:00, with the westbound between Jct 24 and Jct 22 also closed. The M67 westbound Jct 1A entry slip will close from 21:00 to 06:00, and the A580 to M61 northbound link road will close from 20:00 to 06:00.
