Emergency services were scrambled to the scene of a coach fire on the M25 on Friday afternoon, causing all traffic to stop and resulting in 58-minute delays. The incident occurred on the anticlockwise carriageway in Greater London between junctions J9 and J8, National Highways confirmed. Surrey Fire and Rescue Services were among those dispatched to the area.

Traffic Chaos During Rush Hour

Just before 5pm, National Highways warned motorists to expect 58 minutes of delays on approach and eight miles of congestion. Traffic cameras showed intense congestion also at junction 10 by approximately 5.15pm. The coach fire brought traffic to a standstill on a stretch of the M25, affecting thousands of commuters during the busy Friday evening rush hour.

Emergency Response

Emergency services, including Surrey Fire and Rescue Services, were quickly dispatched to the scene. The cause of the fire is not yet known, but motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes. National Highways worked to manage the situation and clear the wreckage as swiftly as possible.
