National Highways has confirmed a series of overnight motorway closures across Greater Manchester this week, affecting routes including the M6, M60, M62, M56, M67 and A34. The closures are scheduled between Monday, 17 August, and Thursday, 20 August, and will take place during the night to minimise disruption.
Longer-term closure on the A56
A longer-term closure is in place on the A56 Southbound at the Bent Gate exit slip road, which will be shut from 05:00 on 27 July until 00:00 on 31 August.
Monday 17 August closures
On Monday, the M56 Westbound will see closures at Junction 14 to A494 Park Gate, including the carriageway and entry slip road, as well as link roads to the M53 Northbound and Southbound, from 21:00 to 05:00. The M6 Southbound will have multiple closures, including the link to the M1, Junction 20 links to the M56, and the link to the M62 Westbound, with various times from 20:00 to 06:00. The M6 Northbound will close its Junction 26 entry slip road from 21:00 to 05:00, and the M6 Southbound will close between Junctions 17 and 16, with associated slip roads and Sandbach Services, from 23:00 to 05:00.
The M60 will see closures at Junctions 11, 7, 5, 4, 3 and 23, with various slip road and carriageway closures from 20:00 to 06:00. The M61 Northbound will close between Junctions 4 and 9, including slip roads, from 21:00 to 06:00. The M62 Eastbound will close between Junctions 22 and 24, with the entry slip road at Junction 22, from 20:00 to 06:00, and the M62 Westbound will close its Junction 22 exit slip road and links to the M6 from 20:00 to 06:00. The M66 Southbound will close at Junction 3 and between Junctions 2 and 3, and the M67 Eastbound and Westbound will close between Junctions 3 and 4, all from 20:00 to 06:00.
Tuesday 18 August closures
On Tuesday, the M56 Westbound will close between Junctions 15 and 16 and at Junction 7, from 21:00 to 06:00. The M6 will see similar closures to Monday, including the M6 to M1 link, Junction 20 links, and the M62 Westbound link, from 20:00 to 06:00, plus Rob lane and Junction 22 slip roads from 21:00 to 05:00. The M6 Southbound will close between Junctions 17 and 16 with slip roads and Sandbach Services from 23:00 to 05:00.
The M60 will have closures at Junctions 11, 7 and 23, with times from 20:00 to 06:00, plus a link road to the M66 Northbound from 21:00 to 06:00. The M61 Northbound will close at Junction 4 and between Junctions 9 and M6 Junction 30, from 21:00 to 06:00. The M62 Eastbound will close between Junctions 22 and 24 and at Junction 11, from 20:00 to 06:00, and the M62 Westbound will close at Junction 10, from 21:00 to 06:00. The M66 will have closures at Junction 2 and between Junctions 4 and 3, from 21:00 to 06:00, and the M67 will close between Junctions 3 and 4 as on Monday.
Wednesday 19 August closures
On Wednesday, the M56 Eastbound will close at Junction 7 entry and exit slip roads from 21:00 to 05:00, and the M56 Westbound will close between Junctions 15 and 16 from 21:00 to 06:00. The M6 Southbound will close the M6 to M1 link from 20:00 to 06:00, and the M6 Northbound will close Rob lane and Junction 22 slip roads from 21:00 to 05:00, plus the Junction 17 exit slip road from 20:00 to 06:00.
The M60 will have closures at Junctions 11, 7 and the link to the M66 Northbound, with times from 20:00 to 06:00. The M61 will close at Junctions 4 and 5, and between Junctions 9 and M6 Junction 30, from 21:00 to 06:00, plus the M61 Southbound will close from Junction 3 to the M60 from 21:00 to 05:00. The M62 Eastbound will close between Junctions 22 and 24 and at Junction 22 entry, from 20:00 to 06:00, and the M62 Westbound will close at Junction 11 entry from 21:00 to 05:00. The M66 and M67 will have closures as on Tuesday.
Thursday 20 August closures
On Thursday, the M56 Eastbound will close at Junction 6 entry and exit slip roads from 21:00 to 06:00, and the M56 Westbound will close between Junctions 15 and 16 and at Junction 12 entry, from 21:00 to 06:00. The M6 Southbound will close the M6 to M1 link from 20:00 to 06:00 and the Junction 20 entry slip road from 21:00 to 05:00. The M6 Northbound will close between Junctions 27 and 28, including slip roads and Charnock Richard Services, from 23:00 to 06:00.
The M60 will close at Junction 7 and the link to the M66 Northbound, from 20:00 to 06:00. The M61 will close at Junctions 4 and 5, and between Junctions 9 and M6 Junction 30, from 21:00 to 06:00, plus the M61 Southbound will close from Junction 3 to the M60 from 21:00 to 05:00. The M62 Eastbound will close between Junctions 22 and 24 and at Junction 11, from 20:00 to 06:00, and the M62 Westbound will close at Junction 11 exit from 20:00 to 05:00. The M66 and M67 will have closures as on Tuesday.
