A teenage girl was taken to hospital after reportedly falling from the rear of an ambulance on a busy stretch of the M6 motorway in Lancashire.

The alarming event occurred on Tuesday 6 January 2026, shortly after 5:00pm. It took place on the southbound slip road where the M6 connects to the M55, close to junction 32. Emergency services, including Lancashire Police, were swiftly called to the scene.
In a statement, Lancashire Police confirmed: “At 5.17pm on Tuesday 6 January, we received a report that a teenage girl had fallen from the back of an ambulance on the M6 southbound to M55 slip road. She has been taken to hospital but is thankfully not thought to have suffered any serious injuries.”

The incident led to significant travel chaos during the evening rush hour. To deal with the situation and ensure safety, a section of the slip road was forced to close entirely.
