Five Hospitalised After Llandudno McDonald's Crash

Five people have been rushed to hospital following a major emergency services incident at Mostyn Champneys retail park in Llandudno on Saturday, 18 July 2026. Emergency crews, including police cars, ambulances, rapid response vehicles, and two air ambulances, descended on the site after a multi-vehicle collision that also involved pedestrians.

Emergency Response and Casualties

The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed that five casualties were treated at the scene and transported to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd by road. An ambulance service spokesperson said: “We were called today at 10.52 to an incident in Mostyn Champneys Retail Park, Llandudno. We sent one Cymru High Acuity Response Unit, one Duty Operations Manager and three emergency ambulances to the scene. Advanced critical care support was delivered by the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service in two Wales Air Ambulance charity helicopters. Five patients were conveyed by road to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.”

Police Investigation and Appeal

North Wales Police confirmed the incident was a multi-vehicle collision involving pedestrians. A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision which occurred at Mostyn Champneys, Llandudno today (18/07/2026). Shortly after 10:50am we received multiple calls regarding a multi-vehicle collision which involved a number of pedestrians. The driver of one of the vehicles involved and a number of pedestrians were transported to hospital for further assessment.”

Officers erected a cordon outside the McDonald's restaurant on the retail park. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the vehicle being driven prior to the collision or who has dash camera or mobile phone footage to contact them via the webchat facility on their website or by calling 101, quoting reference O115621.

No Risk to Public

The force added that speculation on social media is unfounded, stating: “We are aware of speculation circulating on social media regarding this incident. We can confirm that this is an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider public.”
