EasyJet Warns Passengers Not to Bring Banned Items in Hand Luggage

EasyJet has issued updated guidance for passengers ahead of the summer travel season, reminding them of the restrictions on hand luggage items. The airline aims to help travellers 'pack in confidence' by clarifying what is and is not allowed on board.

The 100ml liquid rule remains in place at UK airports after the government delayed its planned scrapping. All liquids and gels must be in containers no larger than 100ml and placed in a single transparent resealable bag measuring 20cm x 20cm. However, liquids purchased after security, including duty-free alcohol, are exempt from this limit, provided they remain unopened. Alcohol must not exceed 70% ABV, and passengers are strictly forbidden from drinking their own alcohol on board.

Food can be brought into the cabin, but liquid food items such as soup or custard must be in containers of 100ml or less. Baby food, milk, and sterilised water are exempt from the liquid limit up to a total of one litre, but passengers may be asked to taste them for security. Hot drinks bought at the airport are allowed if they have a lid.

Sharp objects are subject to strict rules. Tweezers, scissors with rounded ends, and blades under 6cm are permitted, as are knives with a blade not exceeding 6cm. Razor blades are only allowed if set in plastic. Lighters can be carried in a pocket, but matches are banned. E-cigarettes and vaping devices cannot be used or recharged on board, and a maximum of two spare batteries may be carried in cabin baggage only.

Animals are not allowed on easyJet flights except for recognised guide and assistance dogs. Camping stoves and fuel containers with flammable liquid must be placed in the hold. Passengers are advised to check destination-specific rules and contact the airline directly if in doubt.
