The A30 in Devon is expected to remain closed for several hours following a serious collision in which a vehicle overturned and landed on its roof. National Highways confirmed the westbound carriageway is shut between the A377 near Exeter and the A382 near Whiddon Down.
Devon and Cornwall Police are at the scene, and collision investigations are anticipated to continue throughout the night. Motorists caught within the closure are being advised to wait for instructions before moving, as officers work to turn traffic around.
A diversion route is in place: drivers are urged to exit at the Alphington Interchange, follow Ide Village Road onto Tedburn Road, and rejoin the A30 at Pathfinder Village. National Highways stated in a social media post that due to the nature of the incident, the road is likely to be closed for the entire evening.
Police were called to the scene at 5.50pm and are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101, quoting log number 693 of November 14.
