YouTuber's £18 Portugal Flight Shock: Beer Costs More Than Ticket
YouTuber stunned as flight beer costs more than ticket

A British YouTuber experienced the ultimate budget travel paradox when his incredibly cheap flight to Portugal was overshadowed by the staggering cost of a simple beer onboard.

The £17.99 Flight Deal

Just Deano, a content creator with over 33,000 subscribers, managed to secure a flight from Manchester Airport to Portugal for the unbelievable price of just £17.99. In his vlog from November 2025, he enthusiastically pointed out he was flying with easyJet from Terminal 1, countering assumptions that such a cheap deal would be with Ryanair from Terminal 3.

His destination was the popular seaside resort of Albufeira, known for attracting British tourists with its affordable prices and reliably sunny climate.

Airport and In-Flight Sticker Shock

Before his evening departure, Deano decided to get into the holiday spirit with a drink at Bar MCR in Manchester Airport. He initially wanted a Guinness but was disappointed to find it served in a generic, non-branded glass. Opting for a pint of Mahou lager instead, he encountered his first price surprise, paying £7.40 for the airport pint.

Once aboard the smooth-running easyJet flight, where he even had an entire aisle to himself, Deano decided to treat himself to a beer. This is where he received his second, and greater, shock.

A single can of Birra Moretti cost €7 (approximately £6), while a deal for two cans was priced at €10.95 (around £9.50). Choosing the two-can option, his enjoyment was short-lived when he discovered the beer was served lukewarm in a plastic cup, leading him to lament the situation as a "shame."

Viewer Reaction and Final Costs

After his flight landed at Faro Airport, Deano paid €21 (roughly £18) for an Uber to his accommodation. When he shared his experience online, his followers were quick to comment on the economics of his journey.

One viewer astutely observed, "Deano spent more on beer than the air travel." Others expressed disbelief at paying €11 for "two small warm cans of lager," while another joked that serving Guinness in a non-branded glass "should actually be illegal."

In a statement responding to the story, an easyJet spokesperson remarked, "A flight to Portugal and two beers for under £30 doesn’t sound like something to complain about."
