Manchester Airport Investigates Passport Control Lapse

An investigation has been launched into an incident at Manchester Airport where passengers from a Ryanair flight from Madrid entered the UK without having their passports checked.

Mobile phone footage captured by passenger Clinton Laykin shows travellers walking through an unstaffed passport control area early on Saturday morning. The flight, FR3186, was delayed and arrived at 02:05 BST instead of its scheduled 23:35 BST on Friday.

Manchester Airport stated that it is the responsibility of the airline's handling agent to notify UK Border Force of arrivals, and that it will work with third-party partners to investigate. A Home Office spokesman confirmed an investigation is under way.

Ryanair attributed the issue to a malfunction in the airport's system that published incorrect flight information, and has requested the airport ensure it does not happen again.
