Strictly Come Dancing viewers have criticised Cach Mercer and Maddie Ingoldsby, branding them "rude" and "ungrateful" after Sunday night's (October 18) results programme, which followed Icons Week.
The couple were the third pairing confirmed safe on the show, after Will Best and Dianne Buswell, and Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley. While Maddie appeared to express thanks before hugging Cach, some viewers said the duo failed to adequately acknowledge the public's support.
Viewers complain on social media
On social media, supporters claimed the pair were the only couple who "never say thank you" to viewers upon progressing. One comment read: "Has anyone told Cach and Maddie they need to say thank you after the vote?" Another added: "Another week of Cach and Maddie NOT saying thank you for the public vote."
A third observed: "Every week Cach and Maddie are the only ones not to thank the audience once they're announced as safe." A fourth contributed: "I do like Cach and Maddie but every couple when they're announced they've been saved, usually thanks the audience for voting them through, but they just sort of...don't."
Cach responds with Instagram statement
Responding to the criticism, another viewer said: "Glad someone else noticed. It really annoys me - so rude and ungrateful." Others echoed similar sentiments, with one asking: "Wondering why Cach & Maddie don't thank the audience when they get through? ! ?"
Shortly after the results programme broadcast, Cach shared a statement on Instagram thanking his supporters. Posting a reel with his dance partner, the Love Island star wrote: "Through to another week, thank you to everyone that voted for us. It means so much to us, we love all the support and kind comments you give every week. Can't wait to do it all again next week!"
Strictly Come Dancing is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
