Tyne Cruises has launched its new catamaran, the Canny Lass, on Newcastle quayside, offering three river cruise options from £18. The 98-passenger boat, which has a café service and licensed bar, will operate year-round except for January.
Cruise options and prices
The one-hour city cruise costs £18 for adults, with children at half price (£9), concessions at £12, and a family ticket at £45. It passes below seven bridges en route to Dunston Staiths, offering views of Newcastle and Gateshead including the Baltic and Glasshouse.
The two-hour country cruise travels to quieter stretches of the Tyne, taking in nine bridges and green banks up-river. It costs £24 for adults, £12 for children, £18 for concessions, and £57.60 for a family ticket.
The three-hour sea cruise heads towards the North Sea, passing historic shipyards, the Port of Tyne, North Shields Fish Quay, and Tynemouth Pier. It costs £30, or £15 for children, with a family ticket at £72 and concessions at £22.50.
Schedule and availability
Cruises run daily except Mondays, with city cruises the most frequent. On Saturday, August 15, six city cruises are scheduled at 9.30am, 11am, 1pm, 2.30pm, 4pm, and 5.30pm, plus a sea cruise at 7.30pm. Some options have just one remaining space.
Sunday, August 16, offers seven city cruises at 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm, 4pm, 5.30pm, and 7pm. The next two-hour country cruise is on Wednesday, August 19 at 9am.
On Friday, August 21, all three cruises run: a country cruise at 9am and a sea cruise at noon, both currently full, followed by city cruises at 3.30pm and 5pm. Dates with all three cruises in September are September 18 and 23, currently showing good availability.
