Passenger Goes Overboard on Atlantic Voyage
A major search and rescue operation has been launched after a tourist fell from a TUI-operated cruise ship sailing in the Atlantic Ocean. The incident occurred as the adults-only Marella Explorer 2 was travelling from Madeira towards the Canary Islands.
Emergency Protocol Activated
According to reports from Spanish news website Voz Populi, the ship's Man Overboard alarm was sounded yesterday morning. The captain of the 14-deck vessel immediately initiated emergency procedures. These actions included slowing the ship to a near-stop, reviewing onboard camera footage, launching marker buoys, and performing circular search manoeuvres in the area where the passenger went overboard.
Spanish Authorities Lead Search Effort
Spanish coastguards and police have been mobilised to assist in the desperate search mission for the missing passenger. The coordinated effort between the ship's crew and Spanish authorities is ongoing in the waters north of the Canary Islands. The Marella Explorer 2, which is dedicated to adult passengers, was en route to its destination when the tragic incident unfolded.
