Victoria Beckham reveals family's traditional Sunday lunch routine
Victoria Beckham on family's traditional Sunday lunch routine

Victoria Beckham has spoken about the "traditional" weekends she enjoys with her family, revealing that a low-cost gravy is a must-have at the dinner table.

The fashion designer, believed to have reached joint billionaire status with her husband David, said the family prefers a traditional Sunday lunch together. She noted that she tends to favour less expensive items.

A Traditional Family Meal

Victoria said: "Yorkshire puddings are a big crowd-pleaser, stuffing, lots of vegetables. No parsnips - it's one of the only foods my husband does not like and will not eat. We're very traditional, actually, as a family."

She added: "Things need to be used, things need to be shared. And if I've got beautiful glassware, I want everyone to use it. I don't think you can ever be too precious."

During a chat with The Sunday Times, the former Spice Girl also revealed that "extra thick" Bisto gravy, which usually costs as little as £1.74 a pot, is essential at family meal times.

Amid Family Rift

Victoria's comments about family life come amid a long-standing rift with son Brooklyn, who publicly disowned his family with a statement in January, almost four years after he married heiress Nicola Peltz.

The couple recently enjoyed time in Portofino, where their relationship began in 1997. A source told new: "This holiday has been like a second honeymoon and about them enjoying time as a couple together.

"It's taken a lot for them to laugh and joke together again after the Brooklyn saga. Victoria has been devastated by the fallout. Brooklyn broke her heart, and everyone including David has been deeply concerned about her. But she is starting to feel better."

Ongoing Tensions

Last year, Brooklyn instructed his family to contact him only through his lawyers and to stop posting about him on social media. The move followed his claims that David and Victoria put their "Brand Beckham" above the family, and he accused his mum of sabotaging his wedding to Nicola.

He alleged that Victoria hijacked a planned dance with his bride and then danced "inappropriately" with him, leaving him "humiliated". Since then, David and Victoria appear to have extended an olive branch to their son on several occasions, but Brooklyn does not appear ready for reconciliation.

However, the source said the situation has brought an unexpected positive consequence for David and Victoria: "In a strange way, it has brought them closer together, which no one could have predicted. It's almost as if they've fallen in love again, and gone back to a time when things were more simple."
