A 27-year-old Polish tourist met a tragic end after falling from the roof of a church in Italy while attempting to take a daring selfie. The incident occurred in the picturesque town of Montecassino, 80 miles south of Rome, where the unnamed man was visiting the historic Abbey of Montecassino.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the tourist climb onto the church roof around midday on Sunday, 30 June. According to local authorities, he lost his footing while positioning himself for a photograph and plunged approximately 15 meters (50 feet) to the stone pavement below.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, the young man succumbed to his injuries. Police have confirmed they are treating the incident as a tragic accident.
