Six UK Travel Firms Cease Trading in 2026, Bookings Cancelled

Six UK travel companies have ceased trading in 2026 so far, cancelling all existing bookings and leaving holidaymakers out of pocket unless protected by ATOL. The conflict in Iran has driven up jet fuel costs, while rising household bills continue to squeeze family budgets, potentially forcing more firms to collapse before the summer ends.

Groupia Ltd Enters Administration

Groupia Ltd, which organised group trips including stag and hen dos, weekend adventure days, and spa breaks across the UK and Europe, entered administration on June 16, 2026. The company's website states that new bookings have been stopped, but arrangements with ABTOT are in place to support customers with existing bookings. Bookings after September 1, 2026, will be cancelled and are subject to a refund claim.

Regen Central Ltd Goes into Liquidation

In January, Regen Central Ltd, founded in Hertfordshire in 2011 before moving to London, went into liquidation and cancelled all trips without refunds. The company lost its ATOL protection on January 13. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) stated that Regen Central had no outstanding ATOL-protected bookings, and that accommodation-only, non-flight, or flight-only bookings are not covered by ATOL.

Gold Crest Holidays Ceases Trading

On January 23, British coach operator Gold Crest Holidays ceased trading with immediate effect, cancelling all future trips and packages. The family-owned West Yorkshire firm, which had operated for 30 years, blamed rising costs for its closure.

In a statement on its website, the company said: "After more than 30 years of creating unforgettable holidays, we are deeply saddened to announce that Gold Crest Holidays has ceased trading with immediate effect and has taken steps to enter voluntary liquidation. This difficult decision follows the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, strategic changes in key partner arrangements that adversely affected our business, and a challenging trading environment with significantly rising costs." The firm entered voluntary liquidation in March, according to Companies House documents.

Asiara UK and Simply Florida Shut Down

Asiara UK, formerly Haivenu Tours, launched in 2022 and offered packages to Asian destinations including China, Thailand, and India. It ceased trading on January 21, but no current bookings were affected as the Ipswich-based business had no future bookings at the time. The firm was dissolved via voluntary strike-off on January 23, according to the Protected Trust Services.

Simply Florida, a travel agency based in Glasgow, organised trips to Disneyland Paris, DisneyWorld Florida, Universal Studios, New York, Niagara Falls, Toronto, and cruises. The firm filed to be removed from Companies House in October 2025 and formally ceased trading on January 20, 2026.

Salamander Voyages Collapses in April

In April, luxury UK holiday firm Salamander Voyages, based in Belfast, closed after plunging into administration. The company offered private sailing holidays in hotspots including Turkey, Greece, Croatia, and Italy. It had celebrity backing, with BBC Strictly host Claudia Winkleman among those who enjoyed a top-end voyage before the closure. Holidaymakers with trips booked saw them cancelled, but the firm was ATOL protected, so refunds should have been issued.
