Walkers has confirmed that its Max Double Crunch KFC Zinger crisps are returning to UK supermarket shelves, following a fan's social media campaign. The flavour had been discontinued, but the brand told one eager customer that the wait is over.
On X (formerly Twitter), Wayne Hunt asked Walkers to bring back the KFC Zinger crisps, which he described as “the best”. In a rare positive response, Walkers replied: “Great news, they’re back! The wait is over as MAX KFC Zinger and MAX KFC Original are back on shelves! Enjoy!”
When Hunt asked for details on timing and retailers, Walkers added: “They’re starting to appear on shelves in major supermarkets now, so keep an eye out!”
Recent Discontinuations and Returns
Walkers has discontinued several lines in recent years. In October 2023, it announced the end of Tomato Snaps crisps, and in April 2026, it confirmed that Crinkles crisps had ceased production in February 2026. However, the brand has also reversed some decisions after public outcry.
Most notably, Walkers Worcester Sauce crisps were axed in 2023, sparking outrage among fans who called them “the best”. The “little purple bags of joy” returned to supermarkets on March 17, 2025, following a successful re-launch at Charlie’s Convenience Store in Worcester.
Other Discontinued Flavours
In November 2023, Walkers confirmed that Salt and Vinegar Quavers had been discontinued. A spokesperson told one fan: “We’re sorry to break it to you Linda, but we’re not making this flavour anymore.” In December 2023, the Max Strong Hotsauce Blaze flavour was also axed, with a spokesperson saying: “Hi, sorry to disappoint you, we don’t make this flavour anymore.”
Walkers Product Range
Walkers, owned by PepsiCo, produces a wide range of snacks including Wotsits, Quavers, Monster Munch, Squares, Bugles, and lines like Max and Sensations. The brand frequently adds and removes flavours, with the discontinuation of Worcester Sauce being one of the most controversial.
The return of KFC Zinger Max crisps marks a rare victory for fans who campaign for discontinued products. Walkers advised customers to keep an eye on major supermarket shelves as the crisps roll out.
