Ryanair adds two new Newcastle routes for summer 2027

Ryanair has announced two new routes from Newcastle Airport for summer 2027, with both available to book now. The budget airline will launch services to Reus in Spain and the Greek island of Rhodes, giving North East travellers more choice for their next getaway.

The Newcastle additions are part of Ryanair's first batch of 29 new routes for summer 2027, taking its network to more than 2,500 routes across 230 destinations. The cheapest flight currently available is a £78.99 fare from Newcastle to Reus for April next year.

Ryanair's summer 2027 expansion

Dara Brady, Ryanair CMO, said: "Ryanair is pleased to launch the first 29 new routes of what is set to be a bumper Summer 2027 schedule, giving our cost-savvy customers an early opportunity to start planning next year's getaways. These are the first of our new Summer 2027 routes to go on sale, with more exciting additions to be announced as Ryanair continues to expand Europe's largest route network. Customers looking to secure the lowest fares for their Summer 2027 travel should head to the Ryanair app/website and book now to get ahead of the curve."

What to expect in Reus and Rhodes

Reus is a Catalan city close to Tarragona and the Costa Dorada, making it a base for exploring the region's beaches and attractions. It is known for its Modernista architecture, including Casa Navàs, and its vermouth culture, with a Gaudí Centre reflecting the architect's connections to the area. PortAventura and the Roman heritage of Tarragona are within easy reach, while Reus offers a quieter alternative to Barcelona.

Rhodes combines historic sights with sandy beaches and a long sunny season. Its medieval Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, home to the Palace of the Grand Master and the cobbled Street of the Knights. Elsewhere on the island, Lindos has a clifftop acropolis overlooking a picturesque bay, offering another option for visitors keen to mix sightseeing with time by the sea.

Four new routes from Leeds Bradford

Ryanair is also adding flights from Leeds Bradford Airport to Tirana, Budapest, Corfu and Bari for summer 2027. The lowest fare listed in the announcement is £58.99 each way to Bari, with an outbound flight on April 20 and a return seven days later. This fare relates to Leeds Bradford, not Newcastle.

Tirana, Albania's capital, offers a mix of Ottoman, Italian-influenced and communist-era architecture, alongside a lively café scene in the Blloku neighbourhood. Attractions include Skanderbeg Square, the Bunk'Art museums and the Dajti Ekspres cable car. Budapest is divided by the Danube into Buda and Pest, with grand architecture, castle views and thermal baths such as Széchenyi, plus ruin bars, river cruises and local dishes like goulash and chimney cake.

Corfu's Venetian old town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with pastel-coloured alleyways and arcades, while beyond it are beaches, coves and olive groves, with local specialities including pastitsada, a spiced pasta dish. Bari, in Italy's Puglia region, has a maze of lanes in Bari Vecchia, where residents make orecchiette pasta by hand, and visitors can explore the Basilica of San Nicola and use the city as a base for trips to Alberobello and Polignano a Mare.
