A small Cornish village has become the UK's most searched-for holiday destination, thanks to celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. The Netflix series 'Being Gordon Ramsay', released last month, featured his holiday home in Rock, prompting a surge in online searches for the location.
Rock, situated on the Camel Estuary in north Cornwall, saw a spike in queries such as 'Where is Rock in Cornwall?' and 'Rock Beach Cornwall'. Elliot Walker, editor of local travel guide Cool Cornwall, said: 'We always knew Rock was pretty special. But its appearance in a top TV show has dramatically boosted its fame and appeal.'
The village boasts golden-sand beaches, a thriving food scene, and calm blue waters ideal for sailing and watersports. Often dubbed the 'Saint-Tropez of Cornwall', it sits across from the holiday hotspot of Padstow. Ramsay has owned a holiday home there for years and recently purchased a neighbouring property for £9.65 million.
Cool Cornwall has published a local guide to help visitors explore attractions such as Daymer Bay, Greenaway beach, Brea Hill, and Paul Ainsworth's The Mariners restaurant. Walker added: 'Rock has been quietly doing its own thing for years, and it will carry on doing so long after the cameras have moved on.'
Cornwall, already a popular destination for seaside holidays, has previously seen visitor boosts from TV shows like 'Poldark' and James Bond films. Walker noted: 'Each time there is a boost in searches for the locations featured and an influx of visitors. Rock is simply the latest example of that.'
