Airport lounges offer a peaceful escape from the chaos of busy terminals, with screaming children, cramped seats, and constant chatter. Millions of travellers could be missing out on a little-known airport lounge perk that unlocks access for just £24, and the discount is not limited to UK airports—it can be used at lounges across the world.
What Does the Airport Lounge Discount Include?
For a set price, lounge visitors can enjoy unlimited food and drink, including freshly made coffee, soft drinks, beer, wine, sandwiches, salads, pastries, and snacks. The discounted rate is available to Monzo Premium and Monzo Max customers through a partnership with LoungeKey.
Monzo explains: "We've teamed up with LoungeKey to give anyone with Monzo Premium or Monzo Max discounted access to airport lounges worldwide. You and guests can access 1,100 airport lounges around the world for a flat fee of £24 per person, per visit. This rate includes Max Family, and you will need to pay per person, per visit."
How to Get the Discount
Monzo Perks costs £7 a month, while Monzo Max costs £17 a month. Alongside discounted lounge access, customers get a free Greggs treat every week, a complimentary cinema ticket each month, 10% off cinema food and drinks, an Uber One membership, an annual Railcard, and more.
Before your first lounge visit, you must complete Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) with your payment card. This is a one-off requirement; subsequent visits are automatically charged to your registered card. If you replace your card, you must register the replacement, complete SCA again, and show the new card at the lounge during your first visit. Your physical Monzo card is essential for initial entry.
Monzo adds: "You can pre-register by creating a LoungeKey account using loungekey.com/monzo. Once registered, you can perform SCA and enter a lounge by scanning a QR code. If you haven't pre-registered your payment method with LoungeKey in their app, you will need to complete several steps on the 'lounge device' before entering the lounge."
Booking vs. Walk-In
Some airport lounges allow advance booking, but this usually costs at least £6 extra per person on top of the discounted entry price. This extra fee is set by the lounge, not Monzo. If you simply turn up on the day, you pay the standard discounted rate of £24 per person, subject to space availability.
Is Monzo Worth It?
Sophie Buchan, a Money and Lifestyle Writer, shares her experience: "After a delay turned an 11pm arrival into a 4am landing, my boyfriend and I headed to Tenerife's Montaña Roja VIP Lounge while waiting for our flight back to Glasgow. Entry would normally have cost €44 per person, but a Monzo membership discount brought the price down." She notes that the lounge saved them from spending a fortune at airport restaurants, and they paid for the visit themselves.
