London has been named the world's best food city for 2026 by TripAdvisor, topping the travel website's Travellers' Choice Awards. The capital beat Dubai, which came second, and Rome in third place, praised for its diversity and energy.
TripAdvisor highlighted London's varied neighbourhoods, stating: 'From Shoreditch's swaggering style to Camden's punky vibe and chic Portobello Road, London is many worlds in one.' The announcement noted that the city's energy means no two days are the same, offering everything from Michelin-starred restaurants to traditional pubs.
The awards were based on 12 months of data from online reviewers, with TripAdvisor claiming to have received eight million listings in 2025. The 'best of the best' title is awarded to fewer than 1 per cent of listings that receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews.
Despite the accolade, London's food culture has often been derided by international visitors, particularly from France and the US. Paris ranked fifth on the list, while no US city made the top ten.
