Ibiza Water Prices Shock Tourists: €15 Bottles Compared to UK

British holidaymakers are being put off visiting Ibiza after discovering the high cost of bottled water at the island's clubs, with prices reaching €15 (£12.80) per bottle. Local tourism guide Create Ibiza revealed the prices in a TikTok video, sparking outrage among potential visitors.

Water Prices at Popular Ibiza Clubs

Create Ibiza listed the cost of a bottle of water at several well-known venues: Hi Ibiza - €15 (£12.80), Eden - €12 (£10.24), DC-10 - €7/8 (£5.97/£6.83), O Beach - €5/6 (£4.27/£5.12), Ushuaia - €15 (£12.80), Cova Santa - €12 (£10.24), Pacha - €13 (£11.10), and Unvrs - €15 (£12.80). The video asked followers: "What's the most you've ever paid for a bottle of water in Ibiza?"

One TikTok user commented: "How can you charge this much for water? It's insane." Another declared: "Ibiza will never be worth it." A third said: "I was drinking tap water at all these clubs and had such a sore throat, but you gotta do what you gotta do to save money." A fourth exclaimed: "€15 is a scam for water."

Ibiza's Tap Water Quality Concerns

Ibiza attracts around three million tourists annually, including roughly 800,000 from the UK. However, tourism website Ibiza Spotlight warns that the island's tap water, while safe, often tastes unpleasant due to high salt or calcium levels. "Too much salt can cause heart problems, and too much calcium can cause kidney problems," the site notes, though it adds that short-term holiday visits are unlikely to cause issues.

Alternative Ways to Stay Hydrated

Ibiza Spotlight recommends saving money and reducing plastic waste by using water filling stations, which offer treated drinkable water for around €1 per 20 litres. Locations include behind the petrol station in San Rafael (Fuentejara), on the main road from Ibiza Town to Santa Eulalia (Pozo Can Guasch), and in San José. Additionally, four public water fountains in Ibiza Town provide free filtered water, with three already installed in Plaza Sa Graduada, Carrer de Madrid, and Plaza Julià Verdera, and a fourth planned on Paseo Juan Carlos I.
