Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has revealed the cruel nickname he was given after a PE teacher forced him to run shirtless in front of his class as a 'public humiliation' for putting on weight.
Speaking on the Judgemental podcast, which he co-hosts with fellow Strictly judge Anton du Beke, the pair discussed the topic of 'public humiliation'. Craig joked that it is 'what life is all about' before recounting a mortifying tale from his childhood.
The Humiliation
Craig told Anton: 'I remember when I was a kid, I came back from the Easter break and my PE teacher, because I'd eaten a lot of chocolate. I was quite a porky kid.' He continued: 'And when I came back from the break my PE teacher said: "Craig, you've put on so much weight, I'm going to use you as an example, and you will take your shirt off, in front of the class, and you will run around the oval in front of the class so they all watch."'
Craig said he complied, and then received a nickname as a result. When Anton pressed for the nickname, Craig simply replied: 'T**s.'
Anton's Reaction
Anton was unable to contain his amusement and erupted into laughter. The revelation comes after Anton left Craig stunned with a surprising confession about takeaways. Anton said: 'I don't like takeaways, I don't like the principle of a takeaway. I don't like the concept. It seems alien to me. I can't bear all that stuff.'
Anton acknowledged that during his childhood he might have had a Chinese takeaway but nowadays he tries to stay away from them. He added: 'I'd rather just go to a restaurant. No, it is not for me.'
Craig's Guilty Pleasure
In contrast, Craig revealed his weakness: 'My guilty pleasure is double pepperoni pizza. It's bad news because I keep buying them in the supermarket and I keep putting them in the oven and I keep eating them. I need to stop myself. I don't do it all the time, only on special occasions.'
