The Hole in Wand, a popular crazy golf attraction at Dalton Park in County Durham, has announced it will close permanently on Sunday 6 September 2026. The news was confirmed in a statement shared on the attraction's Facebook page on Wednesday evening.
Opened in October 2024, the magical mini golf course quickly became a standout family experience at Dalton Park, welcoming nearly 70,000 visitors. Players could pick a wand, solve riddles and break a curse across nine themed holes, with references to North East landmarks such as Bolam Lake and Lumley Castle.
Award-winning attraction
Earlier this year, The Hole in Wand was named among the top 10% of attractions globally after receiving a Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Award. The attraction also featured an apothecary and a Little Wizards' play area, alongside imaginative cocktails for adults.
Fond farewell
The Facebook statement read: "Wizards and Witches, it is with sadness that we will be saying a fond farewell to the North East and Dalton Park on Sunday 6th September 2026. We have loved being part of the centre's offering over the last 2 years and thank all who visited our magical mini golf, apothecary and Little Wizards' play area."
Fans have reacted with disappointment, with one follower commenting: "Completely gutted, love the venue & very proud of the team" and another writing: "This was a great place for the kids. Not just the golf but the little wizards play area too, so disappointing that it's closing."
