The former Platform 89 nightclub in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle is reopening as Baltic Lounge, a new bar and lounge set to welcome guests from this Friday, October 30.
The venue, located on Upper Stanhope Street near Cains Brewery Village, has undergone a two-week refurbishment. Baltic Lounge aims to provide a warm and friendly space where locals can relax, catch up with friends and enjoy a drink.
A calmer addition to the area
General manager Kate Myers described the concept as an alternative to some of the more quirky and lively spots in the neighbourhood. "It's just going to be a nice place to go and have a drink," she said.
"Somewhere you can take it easy, listen to some good music, have a little dance, chill and chat. It's an alternative to some of the more quirky and lively places in the area, so it's going to add to the overall mix of an amazing part of the city."
"More than anything, it'll have a lovely, friendly atmosphere because we want everyone to feel welcome," she added.
Weekly events and festive opening
Baltic Lounge will host weekly events, including Thursday quiz nights, live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays, and relaxed Sunday sessions. The venue will initially operate four days a week.
Looking ahead to the festive season, Myers said: "It's the ideal time to open as we head into the festivities, and a brilliant location because there's always something going on."
"We're offering a calmer, more mellow vibe to balance all that out. We're starting four days a week to see how it goes, but we couldn't be more excited to open over Halloween weekend."
Nearby developments
The opening follows the recent launch of Baltic Bazaar, a new indoor market at Cains Brewery Village. Located next to the Red Brick Market under the same ownership, Baltic Bazaar offers a more modern space with a smaller footprint, predominantly featuring artists and makers, with food trucks also serving from the venue.
