Disneyland Paris is preparing to launch its expansive new World of Frozen land later this month, and I had the exclusive opportunity to explore it ahead of the grand opening. When Anna and Elsa officially welcome visitors on March 29 at Walt Disney Studios Park, which will simultaneously rebrand as Disney Adventure World, guests will be immersed in the enchanting kingdom of Arendelle with a host of exciting attractions.
The New Frozen Themed Ride
For the first time in its history, Disneyland Paris introduces a Frozen-themed attraction with 'Frozen Ever After'. This gentle boat ride sails through the picturesque Kingdom of Arendelle, culminating at Elsa's majestic ice castle. Designed as a family-friendly experience, it features stunning sets, advanced animatronics, and beloved songs from the films.
Be prepared for unexpected thrills, however, as the ride includes several surprising drops, including one particularly steep section that adds an element of excitement. The queue area is equally engaging, filled with hidden details and interactive elements to entertain guests while they wait.
Where to Meet the Characters
Meeting Anna and Elsa requires advance booking, a system that benefits families by eliminating long queues and allowing for better daily planning. The experience begins in a waiting hall adorned with royal portraits, leading to a private room where the princesses greet visitors personally, ensuring quality interaction time.
For those without bookings, other character interactions abound. Oaken roams the land, responding to cheerful calls, while the adorable baby troll Mossie and Arendelle villagers are available for chats and storytelling. A highlight is the AI-powered Olaf animatronic, whose realistic appearance and interactive performances captivate audiences throughout the day.
New Show and General Atmosphere
The overall ambiance of World of Frozen is vibrant and immersive. 'A Celebration in Arendelle' is a new waterfront show featuring Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff, complete with music and magical effects. From the moment guests enter, Nordic-inspired architecture, themed food, and instrumental renditions of the soundtrack transport them directly into the Frozen universe.
Photo opportunities are plentiful, with popular spots including an ice-inspired fountain near the entrance and a mountainous backdrop featuring Elsa's ice castle by the Frozen Ever After ride.
The Food
World of Frozen introduces the Nordic Crown Tavern, a quick-service restaurant offering Scandinavian-inspired dishes such as salmon, meatballs, quinoa, and mashed potatoes. Prices range from €12 to €20, with generous portions that satisfy without overwhelming. The vegan meatballs, in particular, impressed with their quality and flavor.
The restaurant's charming decor, featuring character portraits and hidden details like a sneaky cat, seamlessly extends the land's thematic experience.
Part of a Broader Expansion
World of Frozen is just one component of Disney Adventure World's extensive transformation. Additional highlights include 'Adventure Way' with the new Rapunzel Tangled Spin ride, inspired by the 'I See the Light' scene, and interactive experiences with characters like Mickey, Peter Pan, and Mary Poppins.
The expansion centers around a large lake that hosts the spectacular 'Cascade of Lights' nighttime show, featuring drones, pyrotechnics, and music. Package deals start from £129 per person per night for family stays, available through Disneyland Paris's official website.
