A soccer match in Ecuador descended into farce on Sunday when a medical cart collided with a player while transporting an injured teammate off the field. The chaotic incident occurred during a LigaPro Serie B clash between LDU Portoviejo and El Nacional.

How the incident unfolded

As the medical cart was carrying a stricken Portoviejo player to the locker room, midfielder Edison Caicedo stood on the sideline conversing with a coach. With his back to the approaching vehicle, Caicedo finished his discussion and turned abruptly, walking directly into the cart's path.

The 36-year-old struck his right knee against the cart and tumbled to the ground, writhing in apparent agony. Coaches on the sideline immediately berated the driver, who offered apologies while protesting his innocence.

Fans were stunned by the bizarre scene. One questioned, 'Don't those little carts have a horn?' Another argued, 'Not ran over, he walked into the cart and flopped.' A third added, 'Dude walked straight into the cart without even looking.'

Fortunately, Caicedo recovered and played the final 20 minutes. Portoviejo secured a 1-0 victory, keeping them seventh in the 12-team Serie B standings.
