For Brits dreaming of swapping April showers for reliable sunshine this Easter, a new tool promises to take the guesswork out of booking a warm getaway. easyJet holidays has launched its Sun-Reliability Index, analysing 25 years of climate data to pinpoint the destinations with the most dependable weather for the time of year.
The Sun-Reliability Index: Your Guide to Guaranteed Sunshine
The innovative index ranks potential holiday spots based on three key metrics: average high temperatures, daily hours of sunshine, and the probability of rain. This data-driven approach allows travellers to book their Easter break with far greater confidence, avoiding the disappointment of unpredictable spring weather.
Topping the list for April is Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, which offers a near-perfect guarantee of sun. The resort boasts average daily highs of 30C, up to 11 hours of sunshine each day, and a remarkable 98% chance of dry or sunny conditions. Package holidays to this Red Sea paradise start from £659, with opportunities for snorkelling, desert safaris, and water park visits.
Top Contenders for Your Easter Escape
In second place is Sal (Santa Maria) in Cape Verde. This Atlantic archipelago offers sun-seekers average temperatures of 25C, around nine hours of daily sunshine, and less than a 5% chance of rain. While packages start from around £799, the destination provides great value with its unique salt flats, boat trips, and expansive sandy beaches.
The Canary Islands perform strongly, with Gran Canaria ranking third and Tenerife South in fourth place. Gran Canaria sees a daily rain chance of between 5% and 15%, while Tenerife enjoys pleasant temperatures of around 23C—a welcome contrast to the UK's lingering winter chill.
Other notable entries include Paphos in Cyprus, ideal for history and sun lovers, and two Moroccan gems: Agadir with its surf-ready waves and 24C heat, and Marrakesh, sitting in seventh place with 27C temperatures perfect for exploring souks and riads.
Sunshine on a Budget
For those watching their pennies, the list also highlights more affordable options. Faro in Portugal's Algarve offers the cheapest packages on the index, starting from just £389, alongside 22C temperatures ideal for coastal walks. Sicily, with its captivating Mount Etna and up to nine hours of daily sun, also provides excellent value, with holidays from £529.
Stuart Wright, Customer Director at easyJet holidays, commented: 'After making it through the dark winter months, we know many of our customers are relying on April’s Easter break to catch up on some much-needed vitamin D.
