A father from Ilfracombe, Devon, has won £10,000 every month for 30 years after buying a lottery ticket during an unexpected detour. Sean Henderson, a carpenter, was unable to find a parking space at his local Lidl and instead went to a nearby Co-op, where he purchased a Set For Life ticket.
Henderson said he felt lucky when he saw the National Lottery stand. The following morning, he discovered he had won the top prize via the National Lottery app. 'I was so scared of losing the ticket - or actually waking up and finding out it had all been a dream,' he said.
He celebrated with a cup of coffee and a bacon sandwich, and left a bouquet of flowers outside his local Lidl to thank them for the full car park. 'Thanks to the car park being full, I was led to another supermarket and my National Lottery Set for Life luck,' he added.
Henderson has no immediate plans to quit work but says the money will give him flexibility to avoid working in bad weather. He has booked a five-star hotel in the Canary Islands for his birthday next week.
