Marmaris, a coastal town on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, has been named the cheapest European destination for an Easter getaway, according to a study by Which?. With average temperatures of 25°C in April and pints costing around £2, the resort town offers a budget-friendly alternative to more expensive destinations like Paris.
The study compared over 3,000 package holidays and found that a seven-night stay in Marmaris costs an average of £594 per person, half the price of a similar trip to Paris, which averages £1,310 per person. Marmaris is just over four hours from the UK by flight, while Paris is under three hours but significantly more expensive.
Marmaris boasts several beaches, including the 4km-long Marmaris Long Beach (Uzunyali), Icmeler Beach with calm azure waters, and Turunç Beach with pebbly shores. Visitors can also take a boat trip to Sedir Island, known for its soft white sand and ancient ruins.
Beyond the beaches, the town offers attractions such as the Grand Bazaar, a 16th-century castle, and a dancing fountain. Bar Street is lined with bars and restaurants, and there are water parks and jeep safaris for families. The area is also home to many resorts catering to families.
