Butlin's Bognor Regis Spa Closure: Refunds Offered for Cancelled Bookings
Butlin's Bognor Regis Spa Closure: Refunds Offered

Butlin's has confirmed the closure of its Ocean Spa at the Bognor Regis park, the last facility of its kind across the company's three locations. Guests with existing bookings after the closure date will receive full refunds.

Closure Details and Refunds

The Ocean Spa, which included a steam room, hydrospa, and sun terrace, offered spa day packages and individual treatments. It was the last remaining spa among Butlin's parks; the Skegness spa closed in 2021.

Josh Engleman, communications manager at Butlin's, said: "We can confirm we'll be closing our spa at Butlin's Bognor Regis. We've contacted the small number of guests who had booked to visit the spa and they will, of course, receive a full refund."

The spa will close on August 28. Customers with bookings after this date will receive a confirmation of cancellation and a full refund.

Customer Reactions

Some customers expressed disappointment over the closure. One fan of the spa called it a "massive mistake" on social media, adding: "This was one of the only things for adults to relax and have a break from the kids! Such a disappointment."

Another customer asked: "Why close the spa? We need a place to de-stress!" Others said they would miss the spa in autumn and had planned to bring their teenagers. One customer wrote: "We going in October and just got this [booking cancellation]. Gutted. First year my daughter is old enough."

Focus on Family Activities

Engleman said: "The spa has always been a small part of the resort experience. Our focus is on the activities and entertainment that families come to Butlin's for, including recent additions such as PLAYXPERIENCE, which opened at Bognor Regis last year."

While the spa was one of the few adult-only activities, Butlin's continues to target the adult market through Big Weekenders, which offer themed weekends with daytime activities, live music, and DJ sets. The company has also introduced new facilities, including private karaoke pods and self-service drinks machines. All-inclusive packages were launched in 2024, starting at £28 per person per night.
