British Teenager Dies in Balcony Fall at Magaluf Resort

An 18-year-old British tourist, Thomas Channon from Rhoose, Vale of Glamorgan, has died after falling 70ft (21m) from a balcony at the Eden Roc apartment complex in Magaluf, Mallorca. He is the third UK holidaymaker to die at the same block this year.

Mr Channon was celebrating the end of his A-levels and staying at the nearby Universal Hotel Florida. Spanish police believe he entered the complex after losing his friends around 04:00 local time on Thursday.

The Foreign Office confirmed it is assisting the family and is in contact with Spanish authorities. A mother of one of his friends criticised the low wall at the site, saying it was about knee height and gave a false impression of a garden beyond, hiding a 70ft drop.

Two other British tourists have died at the same complex in 2023: Tom Hughes, 20, from Wrexham, in June, and Natalie Cormack, 19, from Scotland, in April. The Foreign Office has previously warned holidaymakers about balcony risks, urging them to look out for friends and avoid dangerous behaviour.
