A 74-year-old British tourist has died on a sun lounger at Stalis Beach in Crete, Greece, after complaining of feeling unwell. The incident occurred around midday on Sunday, with fellow beachgoers discovering the man unconscious.
Emergency services, including medics from the Hellenic National Centre of Emergency Care (EKAB), attempted to revive him but were unsuccessful. Reports indicate he had gone for a swim before returning to his lounger and experiencing a 'strong feeling' of illness.
Greek authorities have not yet released the cause of death. This tragedy follows a series of beach fatalities involving British holidaymakers in Greece, including a 73-year-old man found dead on a beach in Skiathos and a 68-year-old who lost consciousness while swimming in June.
