Sir David Attenborough Names Richmond as His Favourite Place on Earth

Sir David Attenborough, the renowned broadcaster and naturalist, has declared Richmond his favourite place on Earth. The 87-year-old, who has travelled extensively across the globe, shared his preference in the next issue of Time Out London, which was compiled by the magazine's readers.

Attenborough cited personal connections and cultural amenities as reasons for his choice. "Partly because I live there, partly because my friends and family are there," he said. He also praised the climate and London's cultural offerings, including music and museums. "The climate suits me, and London has the greatest serious music that you can hear any day of the week in the world," he added.

The broadcaster expressed his desire to continue making natural history programmes. When asked how long he plans to work, he replied, "If I can make programmes when I'm 95, that would be fine. But I would think I'll have had enough by then."

On the topic of conservation and human extinction, Attenborough noted that very few species have survived unchanged, highlighting the lingula, a brachiopod that has existed for 500 million years by being unobtrusive. "You can't accuse human beings of that," he remarked.
