Victor Munoz Reveals Andoni Iraola's Liverpool Style of Play
Victor Munoz on Andoni Iraola's Liverpool Style

Victor Munoz has revealed how Andoni Iraola convinced him to move to Liverpool and how he can fit into the new head coach's style of play. The Spain international became Iraola's first signing when he completed a surprise £34.5 million move from La Liga side Osasuna last month.

Iraola's Tactical Vision

The 22-year-old Barcelona academy graduate and former Real Madrid player was a strong target for Newcastle United until Liverpool swooped. Munoz has shed light on what Reds supporters can expect under Iraola, detailing the conversation that persuaded him to join.

"He gave me a glimpse into how his teams play, how it might suit me, how he likes his wingers to be wide, able to get to the byline, and hard-working," Munoz said. "I made the right choice with that next step because those are characteristics I strongly identify with."

"His style of play, his pressing, how he wants to manage teams, I am a player who, because of my characteristics, could fit in, and that's also why I took that step."

Adapting to the Premier League

Munoz is convinced he will have few issues adapting to life in England. "I'm used to this kind of thing," he said of moving to Merseyside. "I left home when I was 17. I like new challenges and I'm looking forward to this new experience."

He explained why it was difficult to leave Osasuna: "It's complicated because when you're so happy somewhere, it's always difficult. (Osasuna) is a club that has given me everything, that has always supported me, both the club and the fans. It's always difficult to take a step forward."

Injury and World Cup Hopes

Munoz has yet to feature in the World Cup due to injury but recently resumed training and could be in with a chance of playing in Spain's quarter-final clash with Belgium on Friday. "I've been in this recovery process for a long time," he said. "To get back into that rhythm is difficult when you're with the best because they're at such a high level. Now I'm training and feeling better, which is the important thing to get back on the field as soon as possible."
