Samsung has confirmed that millions of Galaxy phones will become outdated this week as the company prepares to unveil its next-generation foldable devices at a major Unpacked event in London on July 22. The Korean technology giant is expected to reveal new Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold models, which will feature refreshed designs, more powerful processors, enhanced cameras, and smarter AI upgrades.
Flex Titanium Technology Confirmed
Samsung has already confirmed that the new foldables will incorporate Flex Titanium technology, which the company says builds on seven generations of foldable innovation. The redesigned display structure utilises structural and material advancements to deliver a more refined viewing experience with enhanced durability and reduced crease visibility.
“Samsung’s strength in the foldable category comes from connecting user needs with our technologies that deliver tangible benefits in everyday life,” said Sunghoon Moon, EVP and Senior Executive, Mobile R&D Office – H/W, Samsung Electronics. “For the next generation of Galaxy foldables, Samsung is building on years of expertise to bring display innovations into devices that enhance user experiences, anchored by exceptional viewing experiences.”
Tease of a New Shape
Samsung is also teasing a potential new form factor, with the tagline “A New Shape Unfolds” appearing in an email sent to Express.co.uk. Social media posts have shown images of everyday products appearing shorter and wider, hinting at a foldable that could resemble a passport. This design would offer a more tablet-like experience when opened, improving movie watching, gaming, and multitasking compared to the current square display on the Galaxy Z Fold.
Express.co.uk will provide live coverage from the event in London on Wednesday.
