Revolut services down as Google Cloud outage hits firms

Revolut users are among those affected by a service disruption linked to an IT incident on Google's Cloud network. The fintech, which serves millions of customers in the UK, flagged issues affecting card payments, transfers, cash withdrawals and account sign-ins.

More than 1,500 people reported problems with Revolut earlier on Tuesday morning, according to the Downdetector platform. The issue is understood to be connected to a Google Cloud outage in the "Europe-west2" region, believed to be London, which has been ongoing since late evening on Monday.

Revolut confirms disruption and reassures customers

A Revolut spokesperson said: "We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services." They added: "We can confirm that all our customers' money and data are safe." The spokesperson apologised, saying: "We've been working to fix the issue since it was identified this morning and apologise to anyone affected and for any inconvenience caused."

Google reported the issue on its service health page, stating that Cloud services were experiencing errors and intermittent network failures. "Our engineering team continues to investigate the issue," Google said. "We apologise to all who are affected by the disruption."

Other UK services report issues

Hundreds of Lloyds Bank and HSBC users also reported issues to Downdetector, along with users of platforms including Royal Mail, DPD and Rightmove. The full extent of the impact on these services remains under investigation as Google works to resolve the outage.
