PSV Eye Rangers Striker Chermiti Amid Besiktas Exit Rumors

PSV Eindhoven have reportedly 'settled on' Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti as their primary target to bolster their attack this summer. The Dutch giants are said to be keen on securing the highly-valued frontman, who has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.

Chermiti's Debut Season at Rangers

The Portuguese striker had an inconsistent debut season at Ibrox following his £8 million move from Everton. Initially struggling to justify the hefty fee, Chermiti gradually found his form as the campaign progressed. He netted a hat-trick against Hearts in February and scored a brace against Celtic, finishing the season with 15 goals.

His strong performances in the latter half of the season vindicated Rangers' decision to reject a £13 million bid from Fenerbahce in January. However, interest has intensified, with PSV, Porto, and Galatasaray all credited with an interest in the 22-year-old.

PSV's Transfer Strategy

According to reports, PSV are preparing to follow up their interest but have not yet accelerated their pursuit as they evaluate their signing shortlist. The Eredivisie champions have been made aware that Rangers demand at least a double-digit million figure for Chermiti, with a fee of around £25 million likely to tempt the Glasgow club into a sale.

Besiktas Interest

Turkish outlet Fanatik reports that Besiktas have identified Chermiti as a potential target this summer. However, newly appointed manager Vincenzo Italiano is reportedly not keen on the deal. The former Bologna boss was presented with four potential transfer options to strengthen his frontline, including the Portugal Under-21 international, but is said to 'oppose' a big-money move for the striker.

As the transfer window heats up, Rangers face a decision on whether to cash in on their prized asset or hold out for a higher fee amid growing interest from top European clubs.
