The Nothing Phone (4b) has been unveiled at a price of £299, positioning itself as a direct competitor to Samsung's more affordable offerings. The device, stylised as the Phone (4b), is the first in Nothing's (b) series and aims to provide a cost-effective alternative amid rising smartphone prices.
Design and Display
The phone features a fully plastic frame with a transparent section at the top, reminiscent of the pricier Nothing Phone (4a) Pro. It is available in black, white, or blue. The 6.77-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen offers smooth visuals, while the rear houses a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. IP64 dust and water resistance adds durability.
Battery and Performance
The Nothing Phone (4b) boasts the largest battery in any Nothing phone at 5,200mAh, promising up to 18 hours of usage. However, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset is relatively low-powered, making it unsuitable for intensive mobile gaming. Nothing offers three years of Android updates and six years of security updates, extending support to 2032.
Glyph Bar and Software
Similar to the Nothing Phone 4a, the Phone (4b) includes a Glyph Bar—programmable LED lights on the back that can indicate app alerts or notifications from specific contacts when the phone is face down. It runs Android 16 out of the box.
Pricing and Competition
At £299, the Nothing Phone (4b) is less than half the price of an iPhone 17 or Samsung Galaxy S26, and £80 cheaper than the Nothing Phone (4a). However, it is not the most affordable option on the market. Samsung's Galaxy A17 5G, released in August 2025, retails for £249 and is currently on sale at Amazon for £131.89. Even cheaper handsets like the Motorola Moto G06 at £100 offer a simpler experience with inferior specs.
Availability
The Nothing Phone (4b) is available for pre-order from Nothing's website and Amazon, with shipments starting on July 26.
