Niko Sigur keen on Celtic as Hajduk seek seven figure fee

Niko Sigur has made it clear that he is keen to join Celtic. The 22-year-old has been aware of the interest for a couple of weeks and the Canadian international wants to join the Scottish champions.

Talks with Hajduk Split

Record Sport revealed earlier this week that Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson was set to open talks with Hajduk Split over a potential deal. Now we've learned that Sigur is keen for the move to happen. The player came through the Split ranks and would take a significant seven-figure offer to get a deal done.

Linking up with Canadian teammate Alistair Johnston for a crack at the Champions League appeals to the 22-year-old. Sigur, who can play right-back or as a midfielder, was part of Jesse Marsch's Canadian World Cup squad.

Celtic's midfield targets

Celtic are in the market for at least one midfielder and that could be increased with Arne Engels set to complete a £22 million move to West Ham United. Mika Bauer has already come in from Paderborn but Record Sport revealed that Panathinaikos are keen on Reo Hatate. Torino's Gvidas Gineitis is another midfielder Celtic are interested in.

Other transfer priorities

They also want to bring in a goalkeeper with Blackburn's Balazs Toth one of their top targets. Rovers are demanding £4 million but a deal at half that is more likely. The Hungarian is in the final year of his contract at Ewood Park.

Celtic also want to add a left-back and Chelsea's Landon Emenalo had a medical last week, but O'Neill claimed he has a slight injury and that has delayed things. Dundee United's Will Ferry is another name on their list of left-backs.
