Around 120 new jobs are set to be created at a Newcastle tech firm over the next three years after it has seen huge growth since launching just five years ago. Business services and technology company Everything Managed Group was incorporated in October 2021 to help customers take care of their waste.
Rapid growth and expansion
The group consists of six brands which serve more than 40,000 UK customers from its offices in Newcastle’s Grey Street. The group, which owns commercial waste broker Waste Managed, has enjoyed rapid growth, doubling its revenue to £60m in three years while also seeing its number of employees rise to 180.
Now the firm has unveiled plans to double in size again by 2029, while increasing headcount to 300. The group has celebrated reaching its landmark 40,000th customer, having increased its customer base by 10,000 in just over two years. Fast growth in headcount means the firm has expanded its office in the last 12 months, now spanning four floors in the city centre offices on Grey Street. The group has also recently carried out a full refurbishment of the office at a total cost exceeding £500,000.
Recruitment drive and investment in talent
The firm forms part of the national waste group Biffa, which has more than 11,000 employees across the UK and turned over more than £1.89bn in most recent accounts. Bosses have announced a recruitment drive to fill 20 vacancies, with roles in IT, data, technology, sales and customer service, and more roles are set to be announced soon.
The company says that its “incredible” growth means there are many opportunities for locals to grow within the business across multiple departments. The fast-growing business says it is committed to giving early years candidates the chance to learn and develop valuable skills and careers within the group, bucking the nationwide trend behind the youth unemployment crisis by investing directly into young talent. The group already employs a number of apprentices and plans to grow this number in the coming months. As part of its commitment to young talent, the firm has also partnered with Newcastle College to support local art students by featuring artworks based on the theme of sustainability in the group’s office.
Future plans and leadership vision
Looking ahead, alongside investing in local talent, the firm plans to expand its product range, helping brands to stay compliant and manage their waste more effectively. The group also has plans to make significant investment in its technology, with artificial intelligence set to play a growing role in improving its customer experience.
Damon Smith, Group CEO, said: “Investing in early years talent as well as those looking to change careers is crucial to us as a company. We want to be the region’s centre for excellence for those looking to start or change a career, and this growth is a big step towards that. We’re not just hiring, we’re building a training ground for talent, where anyone with the right attitude can succeed. “With so many young people currently out of work, I encourage more employers to do what they can and invest in the incredible talent on their doorstep”.
