The Pentagon has released 72 new files on unidentified flying objects, detailing sightings of spinning discs, glowing orbs, and a potato-shaped object with fish-like scales. The documents, made public on Friday, are part of President Donald Trump's directive for full disclosure on what the government knows about alien life and mysterious aerial phenomena.
Among the cases is a 2022 sighting by five U.S. Army members at Fort Carson, Colorado. They reported a 'potato' shaped object hovering over Cheyenne Mountain, described as 'creamy/whitish opalescent' with 'articulating fish scales.' The object remained motionless for two minutes before vanishing instantly. Investigators concluded with low confidence it might have been sunlight reflecting off snow, but the witnesses insisted it was a clear day.
Another file describes sightings in October 2023 by six federal law enforcement agents, who saw a bright orange orb spawn smaller red orbs. One orb reportedly hovered for hours. The report lists possible explanations such as military flares or developmental technology, but does not rule out 'unrecognized technology.'
An FBI report from February 2025 details a sighting in the northeastern U.S., where a person saw a 'brilliant and beautiful' red sphere with a 'white plasma sun' at its centre. A second sphere appeared, and both flew away silently. Cellphone footage of the event was shared by the White House.
The releases are part of a transparency campaign that has so far made about 300 files public, dating back to the 1940s. The Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, which investigates such reports, has not found evidence of extraterrestrial life.
